The devastating floods of 2010 in Pakistan, which ran through most parts of KPK, leaving thousands of families affected and helpless; ICDI utilized its own resources and immediately launched relief activities in most affected areas of District Nowshera, Charsadda & Peshawar (Partially) and provided food items, non food items to more than 2500 hundred families.
With the kind support of MISEREOR, a comprehensive health & hygiene awareness campaign and free medical care services were initiated in the targeted Districts. Around 3500 women and girls received training on save health and hygiene practices.
Complete “Family Hygiene Kits” were distributed among 1500 vulnerable affected families to ensure the observation of hygiene practices.
Keeping in high vulnerability MISEREOR support ICDI in providing “Family Winterization Kits” (comprised of warm clothes, socks, shawls & Sweater) to 500 families and continued free health care and medicines that catered 6700 flood affected people (mainly women and girls) of district Nowshera, Charsadda.
ICDI works to helps women, children and the community at large, by applying a two-way approach providing healthcare and educational opportunities to help under privileged communities obtain great socio-economic access and thereby building stronger communities.
